- There are five forges in the Parish. The owners are Mr Heafey, Mr M Kelly, Mr J Walsh, Mr T Holohan, Mr J lee.
Mr Lee's forge has been in the possession of his ancestors for generations and Mr Heafey's forge was established in his great-grandfather's time, and Mr Holohan served his time with Nr Heafey and Mr Walsh and Mr Kelly served their time under Mr Holohan. The forges are outside the town on the road-side and are all much the same. The roofs are of zinc and are blackened from the continual smoke from the fire. They are small rooms in it.
