This is lit up by the bellows which is moved up and down to blow air into the fire. Slack is mostly used to put on the fire. The blacksmith has many implements such as an anvil, sledge, shoehammer, pincers, tongs poker, and smiths paring knife. He shoes horses and asses and he makes special shoes for each animal. He repairs farm implements, as ploughs, harrows, rakes and binding machines. He heats the iron very hot and then shapes it on the anvil with the aid of hammer and sledge.
