- The local beliefs with regard to the weather in this district, are when the sky is clear it is a sign of a fine day. A mackerel sky is the sign of stormy weather. When the sun is watery a rainy day may be expected. If a circle surrounds the moon the weather will be severe. When the stars are very bright the weather will be frosty. Low dark clouds are the sign of rain. When a rainbow appears the weather is taken up.
North wind bring cold, harsh weather, South wind bring rain, West wind are mild, East wind bring bitter strong gaels.
