When visitors were expected the old people made sweet cream cakes or pancakes. - Wholemeal bread and oaten-meal bread was mostly used in olden times throughout this district. The meal was got from wheat and oats grown locally. Querns were not used within the memory of any of the present inhabitants of the district.
