  1. Most marriages take place during Summertime, especially in the month of June. The month of May is supposed to be unlucky for marriages and the unlucky days are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The old proverb says, Monday for wealth, Tuesday for health, Wednesday the best day of all, Thursday for crosses, Friday for losses and Saturday no luck at all, and the inhabitants of this district keep the rule of the rhyme.
    Shrove Tuesday is the day when all farmers' gaughters are married. The parents go around match-making before Lent, money is given as her fortune. But when they are proposing for a son animals and goods are given as part of the dowry. After the marriage the wedding breakfast is ready, at which the
