  1. Marriages usually take place in Shrovetide. People say that Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the lucky days for marriages. Seldom people get married on the other days of the weeks. They say it is unlucky.
    Matches are made in the district. Money is given as dowry. Stock and goods are also given.
    I never heard of a marriage on Sunday. I do not know why. Goods are given as presents. A feast is held in the bride's home.
    Straw boys visit the houses. They dress in old clothes and bands of straw. They are given food and drink. They act very nicely. They dance and sing.
