  1. It is generally before Shrove Tuesday people get married now a days. May is counted as unlucky for marriages. Money is given as a fortune.
    The wedding usually takes place in the bride’s home, Strawboys visit the houses and they are dressed in straw and rags. They dance and play music and the people of the house give them porter.
    Long ago people used to get married in their houses, and others used to go in carts to the church to get married.
