    pickled herrings or dried ling fish and vegetables were served and the menu for supper was usualy potatoes and milk. Very seldom they eat bread but when they did it was always oaten bread which was baked on a griddle. The table was usualy hung on the wall when not in use.
    In olden days people ate callcannon on Hallow 'Een. On St. Martins feast fowl was killed and the door was sprinkled with its blood.
