    afraid the priest would blame him for being so long away on the message. "The sooner I can get back the better," he thought, so he got into the fields and started to walk as hard as ever he could. He got on very well until he got as far as the Nun's Fort Field, almost at the back of the Convent. Though he knew the passes perfectly he could never find one all that night. Time after time he would look around and say "Now, my gap is here." But as soon as he would go to where he thought the gap, he would find himself up against a big high hedge which he couldn't pass, and stranger still he would hear voices saying "Whisht now, Whisht now."
    But to make a long story short he at last made up his mind that he'd sit down and wait for morning, and when daylight came he had no trouble in finding the gap where he had searched so many times before and
