  1. At the time the Ballymahon Protestant Church was nearly finished building, the father and son who built it were putting a bolt of some kind in timber some place near the top of the church. The father [gave] the son the bolt, and both he and the son went up to the top of the church. A hole had been already prepared for the bolt, but when the son was going to fix the bolt he asked his father which of the holes he should put the bolt into. The father said "Lord have mercy on your soul." At the same time the son fell from the top of the church and was made bits of.
