  1. Candle-making was carried on locally in former times. This is how they were
    made :- the tallow was obtained from fat of goat, sheep or sow and heated until it became liquid.
    The tallow was then poured into the wider end of the mould and allowed to harden.
    To remove candle, the pieces of sticks were removed from the ends and the mould was rotated before the fire until the tallow softens and the candle is able to be got out.
    It is then hung up again and allowed to harden.
