  1. This was a wicked old man who begged from place to place.
    He was dreaded by the school boys who frequently took to the fields should they happen to spy his burly figure approaching. Very often this alteration of their course made matters worse as he used mount the fences and pretend he was on their pursuit. Scholars occasionally missed school on that account.
    There was one feature noticeable about him, if the youngsters walked boldly towards him and were respectful he never minded them.
    He looked formidable,
