  1. I heard of a haunted house which was situated on the land which Mr. Hartnet now owns.
    The ruin is still to be seen about a hundred yards from the Rectory and is surrounded by poplar trees. A family by the name of Meaghers lived there in former days. Whistling and footsteps were often heard there after dark. One night a man was returning home after visiting a friend in Dooneen and was making a shortcut through the field.
    At that time the path lay through Mr. Corcoran's land on by Mr. Nagle's and along by this old house a tall woman appeared to him and followed him for a short distance past
