- Jack Rattigan was an old tramp long ago. He was a bank clerk in Dublin. He lost a great sum of money and he got a bit silly. He used to pick up every bit of paper he would get. The people put "Jack the Papers on him. He used to go into every house for tea. He was stopping at the river Clare in Dun Mac Criona. He used to sleep on the bank of the river. He is dead forty years. He was a vey big man.
Kate from Balty More was an other tramp. He is dead about ten years now. He used to go round from house to house playing his fiddle. He used to ask eggs and potatoes in every house.
Kate Mchugh was a tramp also. She was a dress maker. Her home was in Tuam. She was stopping in Logalisheen in a little cabbin. She was making clothes for all the other tramps. She was buried in Ballindine forty years ago.
