- New year's day falls on the first of January. It is not right to dig clay on that day. No person is allowed to be buried on that day. It is not right to make a churning or to milk a cow. People kill a turkey for New Year's day and they hang the head on the wall for one day and then they burn his head in the fire. If you fall on that day you will be falling all the year. If you see a magpie that day you will have bad luck all year. If you break a window that day you will have bad luck for seven years. Any one who gets injured on that day will get three more injuries and the third one will kill him. In the big cities they used to play drums and other musical instruments. If you meet a black dog on that day you will have bad luck for the year. If people get drunk on New Year's day he will be getting drunk for the year.
