About two hunded years ago a man named...

About two hundred years ago a man named Meldrum lived around Muff. His occupation was a herd. It is said he had the power of prophecy.
One day as he was herding a strange bull came. He felt that if it got the first drink of the milk from the cow that he would have the gift of prophecy - Here are some of his prophecies.
That all the milk would be churned in one churn.
That coaches without horses would travel the roads.
That there is a great war to be fought in this country; The enemy is to come from the north. It is to start between the hook + the scythe (ie between the cutting of the hay + the harvest) All the men of the country will be called up to service; the sick will be turned three time on the beds to see if they are fit. The last big battle will last three days. The enemy will be as strong in the saddle the third day as an oak tree is in the ground. At three o'clock the third day he will be getting weak and at six he will be defeated. All the men of the district will be killed.
The Loughinlea mountain is in the townlands of Edenagully, Copponagh, Coravelis, Moyan, Moorcrumb. It is mostly used for getting turf on it. There are a few good stone quarries on it.
