- Down the bohreen where I live was a house and in this house lived an old man. This man had nobody belonging to him and when he died the neighbours collected to pay their last mark of respect to the old man. While he lived he had an awful stoop and he died in the same position, just sitting up in bed with his knees tucked up. Towards morning, some person proposed to try and straighten his knees and for that purpose they got the flagstone as it was the only thing handy. When the weight came on his own knees he sat up and of course caused a fright; the door was only about 3 1/2 feet and one of the men happened to be about 6 feet and he got caught in the door and carried door and jamb about 2 fields before he stopped. So the poor corpse had the place to himself.
