   (1) Good enough for the "Set" (class of people) There was a road contractor named Ned Finn who never had his road in proper repair. He had charge of the road from Liscarroll to Kanturk and on one occasion the Co Surveyor drew his attention to its condition. "Well Sir" said Finn "if you knew the Set that's travelling there you'd say 'twas good enough for them". This became a common way of saying a thing was alright.

   (2) Thade Moriarty was a cranky old man employed doing handy jobs around the farmyard. A favourite occupation of his was making súgáns during the haymaking time. He should have a helper to do the twisting who rarely succeeded in pleasing Thade, causing him to exclaim often "wicked at the méaróg. Whenever an old man wanted to ridicule a youngster's efforts he used say, "Wicked at the méaróg" says Thade Moriarty.
