- Saint Patrick is the patron saint of the district. When he came to Kilvine the people of the village were burying an old man whose name was John Kilvine. St Patrick blessed the grave and he said to call the village Kilvine after the man. The boy's of Kilvine ran him out of the village and they threw stones after him. When he came to Rockfort a village near Kilvine he knelt there in prayer a while and left a track of his knees on a stone and that track is there yet. Then he came to Holywell and knelt on a stone near the well. He left a cure for the eye sight in the well. People go on pilgrimage to the well.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
