   Larry had a son who enlisted in the British army. The father lamented the departure of the son whom he loved dearly. The son got married and later he was separated from his wife and child as often happens in the life of a soldier when called to the wars.
   Larry composed the following on the loss of his son:

   Buacaillín Donn

   You Muses why absent you from me?
   If I could my sorrows conceal
   The burden I nurtured so long
   I think it now time to reveal.

   I beg you will not from me elope.
   For thy client is nearly bent down
   Who holds yet a remnant of hope
   That I shall soon see my
   Buacaillín Donn.
