    5. For sprains, to bathe in boiled bran for nine nights, and to put a woolen thread around it.
    6. For a sore throat, cut a thin slice of bacon and apply it to the throat with a good flannel cloth around it.
    7. For la headache, a good strong cup of tea and a few aspirins.
    8. For sore eyes, a drop of hot milk, to drop it into them
    9. For a pain in the ear, to warm a drop of castor oil and drop it into the ear,
    10. For pains in the side, or in the hip, or even toothache, warm the smoothing iron and apply within a red flannel.
    11. If stung by a nettle, apply a dock-leaf
    12. For corns- apply an ivy-leaf.
