  2. 1. The old people say that it is not right to go out with the ashes in the night. They say that someone in the house would be dead before the night would be out.
    2. They say it is not right to leave the holy water near the fire.
    3. They also say it is right to leave the tongs on the right side of the hearth before going to bed.
    4. They say it is right to sweep the hearth before going to bed at night.
    5. The old people say it is right to put a coal under the churn when you are churning. They also say that it is right to shake some holy water on the lid of the churn, and to put a grain of salt on the lid also.
    6. When they are putting down a cake, they put it on the right hand side of the fire, as they say it would not bake right if they put it on the left side.
    7. It is not right to put the clippings of your nails into the fire.
