  1. One evening the Catholic curate of the Crossroads district (which is about three miles from the town of Stranorlar) was going from the church to the Parochial House on horse-back.
    At a bend in the road the horse was held up by a band of fairies. They asked the Priest how they could get back to Heaven. He told them that if each of them had enough blood in his body to write down his name he could get back to Heaven.
    Then they all tried to see if they had enough blood in their bodies to write their names but none of them had even this amount.
    Then with a cry which could be heard three miles away, in the town of Stranorlar they vanished.
