- Once there was a man named Hugh Gallagher who lived in the town-land of Aughlim. A black horse used to come every night and eat the grass off the field below the house. This horse came at twelve o’clock and ate away until morning. If people went near it it disappeared and when they left it used to come back again.When Hugh Gallagher went to bed at night the horse walked round and round outside the hosue and did not let him sleep.
