- There was a hedge-school in the townland of Drimcroagh near Hannah Walsh’s house a long time ago.The teacher’s name was Thomas Martin who came from Mountcharles.He used to come at ten o’clock in the morning and remain until two o’clock in the evening.The master used to bring his dinner in a basket and he used to walk all the way from Mountcharles to Drimcroagh each morning.The teacher used to teach the scholars Reading and Writing.The scholars used to give the master something for teaching them.
