    quarters of land on the eastern part of the townland known as Ballymagroarty of Scotch. This was confiscated in the Reign of Queen Elizabeth and given to the notorious hirelings of the bloodthirsty Cromwell whose descendants occupy it even to-day. The land was given to the foreigners at the small rent of half-a-crown per Irish acre.
