    It is believed locally that Castle Lacken is haunted. Stories of the Death Coach thun dering along the road between Castle Lacken and Killala are prevalent.
    The Coach with the shiny harness and the well dressed old gentleman figures in several of these stories.

    Once upon a time there was a man in our neighbourhood who went to Castle Lacken for some fire wood. He was not long there when there appeared a coachman driving two horses and a coach and a coach towards him with very shiny harness and brass buckles.
