  1. Carrowmore P. Office.
    A new two-storey house was completed for Maria Nealon - late matron in the Workhouse Killala - by Joseph Clarke of Castlemagee of this school district. The house is situate in Ballinaleck above and to the west of the post office of at Carrowmore.
    It is an imposing structure, built on a hill and is visible from all directions.
    At about twelve yards to the back of the house when making a fence Paddy Munnelly met a large flag.
    When he took it up he found a subterranean passage, but did not enter it.
    Martin Mc Donnell of Lacken, brother in law of Maria Nealon entered the passage and discovered that it
