The names of those families are; Rourkes(3) Walsh, Murphy, Crowe, and Morrissey. One dwelling house is thatched, the rest are slated. Drana got its name from the Black Thorn. There are three people over seventy living. The land is hilly with big stone fences and a large area is boggy.

  2. On Pat Morrissey's land in Drana, there is a rath with two stone walls around it. There is a lane between the two walls and trees and skocks grow on the latter. A big tree is growing in the centre of the rath. It is said that long ago people were seen in it. It is never ploughed or tilled.
There was another rath on Pat Byrne's land in Drana. It is rooted and tilled and crops are sown in it. Many things happened people who cut trees in it. People who cut trees in those raths suffered in some way. Some cut their fingers badly and got blood poisoning. Shocks injured the eyes of others and they lost their sight.
