- About nine years ago a very bad storm started in the middle of the day. Late in the night it began thundering very heavy. There was one terrible peal of thunder and a flash of lightning did great damage. A young horse belonging to a man who lived in St Mullins was killed.
The lightning struck the house in which the horse was, and the house fell on the horse and killed him.
Another very heavy snowstorm took place in the year of 1917. The snow was twelve feet high in places, and many people lost sheep and cattle. One man nearly lost his life trying to save sheep up on Mount Leinster. He fell down in a drift and broke his leg. He was found about four hours later in a semi-conscious condition.- Bailitheoir
