  1. This district was very thickly populated before the famine. People do not point out sites of houses. The potatoes decayed in the ground. There was no account of the seed for the following year.
    They were sown broadcast like grain. The people mostly used oat meal for food instead of potatoes. The Government relief did not reach the district.
