  1. There was a hedge school in Tibarney long ago. There was also one in Jamestown and in Errick. The school that was held in Tibarney was in a barn. The owner of the barn was Mr Mikie Dervin, but it is now owned by Mr L. Mulvry. John Connolly was the teacher in Tibarney. Mikie Rogerson taught in Jamestown. J. Killreo taught in Errick.
They were natives of the place. They lived in their own homes. The scholars paid four-pence for the instructions they got. History, Irish and Geography were three of the subjects they taught. Irish was also spoken.
