  1. Marriages usually take place on Shrovetide. People say that Monday's Tuesdays and Thursdays are lucky days for marriages. Seldom people get married on other days of the week. They say it is unlucky.
Marriages do not take place on Shrove Tuesday. Matches are made in the district. Money is given as dowry. Stock and goods are given as well. I never saw marriages take place in the houses. A feast is held in the brides house.
Straw boys visit the houses and they wear old clothes and straw - bands. They get food and drink.
