  1. Marriages take place in Shrovetide. They do not take place on Shrove Tuesday. People think it is not lucky. Matches are not made in my district. Money is given as dowry. Stock is not given in my district.
    I never remember of marriages in the house.
    Straw-boys visit the houses. They dress in rags. They go in to the barn and dance and play music.
    A wedding feast is always given in my district. It is nearly always held in the bridegroom's house. The people get plenty to eat and drink.
