A small chalice from Scattery Island is to be seen at the Convent of Marcy Kilrush.- Weather LoreMany weather omens are connected with the behaviour of animals, fowl, birds and insects, others with the sky and air. The following are observed before rain
1. Horses stamp and if under a car rub their necks against the shaft.
2. Sheep and horses that had been feeding on high ground return to low.
3. Ducks and geese are busy picking their feathers before the rain comes.
4. Cows lie chewing the cud for most of the day before a change after drought.
5. Small insects come to the surface of the soil.
