  2. Thos Hegarty's great grand father was a shoemaker. The boys in family used to help their father and the girls used put a binding overhead in the slippers to make them look tidy. People used to call here for new shoes and to have old ones repaired. Low shoes were mostly made.
    There was a road leading from the bog on by the house and a fort about 100 yards below the house. There were some men waiting for shoes.
