    Going to the office you see workmen on ladders renovating a building and you will walk off the pavement around the ladders, and continue on your way, relieved that that is one unlucky omen you have avoided.
    If you meet a friend who will walk close behind you, taking care that oncoming pedestrians walk around you and your friend for that spells more bad luck.
    If you drop a handkerchief at the office, someone close will have to pick it up and hand it to you, as it is bad luck to pick it yourself.
