  1. There is a holy well near Ballyroan. It is called Saint Fintan's well. People visit there to cure sores. The water is drank. Sometimes the water is rubbed to the sores. There is a story connected with Saint Fintan's well. A woman brought water from the well to boil cabbage She left the water on the fire for three or four hours as the water showed no signs of boiling She poured it out into a hole in the middle of a tree and there is a well there ever since. It never got dry.
