  1. Griddle Cakes.
    Griddle cakes were made from oatmeal and water. These cakes were rolled very thin and baked very hard. The women used to make enough of griddle cakes to feed the family for a week. These cakes were baked on griddles.
    Wheaten Bread.
    Wheaten bread was made from wheaten meal. The wheaten meal was mixed with buttermilk. The bread was baked in baking pots. Soda and salt were also mixed with the meal.
    Potato Cakes.
    These cakes were made from cold, boiled potatoes with flour, soda and salt. They were baked in ovens. They
