- Once there was a man named Pat Mc Ternon living in the townland of Lisgorman. Three nights in succession that there was a crock of gold on the right bank of the Bonet about two hundred yards to the West of Corrigeenear bridge. There was a life to be lost in the unearthing of the gold. One morning Pat started in search of the treasure. When he reached the spot he saw a large flag and on each side of it grew a palm tree. He lifted the flag and under it was a huge bird minding the gold. As soon as he saw the bird he got weak. A fisherman came along and lifted the man. The hole closed and no other attempts were made to unearth it.
