- During the Penal days there was a priest hiding on Glencar mountain. One day he saw the priest hunters coming. He knelt down and asked God to shield him from any Protestants. The soldiers passed along and none of them seemed to see him. When the penal were over and the priests got their liberty again, this same priest came in contact with the officer who was in command that day and they had some angry words. Then the officer said, "You should never turn your tongue on me as I saw you once hiding on a mountain in Glencan." The priest made answer and replied, "It would be impossible" as he asked God to shield him from any person who was not baptized a Catholic. It was looked up after, and this man was in care of a Catholic nurse and was dying in his infancy and his nurse baptized him.
