The harmful weeds which are most common in this locality are the docken, the nettle, the mouses ear, chicken-weed and the dandilion. These weeds only grow in rank ground and they spread rapidly and impoverish the soil. It is very hard to destroy the docken and if the least bit of a root is left in the ground it will spread and grow up quickly. The slimy stuff which is found in the centre of the docken root, is good for a cold on the lip. The nettles are boiled for young turkeys and some people cook them and use them as vegetables because it is said they are healthy and good for the stomach. There is also the cure of the measels in the nettle juice. The juice of the mouse-ear is a good cure for heart failure
