- John bunningham was one of the best basket maker in our District. He lived in a small thatched house in a Village called Carn na Saovre. He was married twice and he had no children. He used to spent most of his time making Baskets.He would put a big bundle of sally rods down in a tar barrel and he would fill the barrel with water. He would heap fire up round the barrel and he would leave it boiling for a night and a day. When he would take them out he could bend them any ways he would like and they would not break. If he wanted to make a round basket he would put twenty four rods down in the ground in the shape of a circle. Then he would get the thinest rods and he would weave them through the rods he had in the ground. He would keep working like that till he would have it made.If he want to make a square basket he would put the rods down in the shape of a square and he would make it the very same way as if it were a round one. He could make them without any trouble because he was well able. He used to make bask(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
