    The sprig of shamrock is got and won on St. Patricks day. It is taken before hand and sent to the Irish who live in other countries as it grows only in Ireland.

    Shrove is the season between Christmas and lent. It is the custom here in Ireland that people get married during that time.
    Máirc na pInide
    Shrove Tuesday is also called pancake Tuesday. It is the custom to have a feast on that day, as which pancakes are always eaten.
    An Carrghas
    Lent is a time of great feasting and prayer. People abstain from cigarettes and sweets during that time.
    Ashes is blessed and put on the foreheads of the people on Ash Wednesday morning.
    The youngsters chalk those that should get married during the past shrove on Chalk Sunday.
    The last supper took place on Holy Thursday. The sacrament of the blessed Eucharist was instituted at it.
