    Ceadaoin no Luaithe
    Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence. Ashes are blessed and sprinkled on the foreheads of the people.
    Domhnach na Cailce
    Chalk Sunday is the first Sunday after Shrove Tuesday. It is an old custom to chalk the unmarried on that day.

  2. Lá 'le Brighde
    Long ago rushes used be brought into the houses and crosses made of them and hung up in the roofs of the houses, on the evening of St. Brigids day. After they had that done they used have a very good supper.
