  1. The old people used call the old schools barn schools. The names of old teachers were Patrick Best, Michael Costello, John Burke and Patrick Keenan. Some of them were strangers. they used to stay a week in every house. They used to teach English, Grammar and Geography. They had no Irish. Irish was not taught. They had books. On slates they used to write. The teacher used to sit on a stool and the pupils used to sit on desks.
