    There was once a holy well in the parish of Emly, Co. Tipperary and it was believed to be connected with some saint.

    There was once a holy well in the parish of Emly, Co. Tipperary and it was believed to be connected with some saint. A certain woman who was living in a house near the well was one day washing clothes. After some time she ran short of water so she only carried the clothes to the well to finish washing them. When she had washed them she carried them home and hung them out to dry.
    That evening she came again to the well for a bucket of water. When she arrived at her destination she found to her great surprise that the well was gone. She searched the whole field for it but it was all in vain. That night the woman went to bed and she died during the night. About a week afterwards
