There is a holy well in Kilteely which has been famous through many centuries. It was even known in pagan times by the name of "Slán"" or "Healer". The pagans worshipped it because they believed that a certain wizard or prophet dwelt beneath the rock from which the cooling spring burst forth. The ole people used to call it "King of Water".
The feast day is on the 2nd of July and the Catholic people of the district and for miles around come on that day to give their "rounds" there.
