    One night I heard this story from an old man in the neighbourhood concerning a lough of water called the "Suil".

    going in his own gate the dog vanished. He then dismounted and put the horse in the stable; he went into the kitchen, and all those inside got frightened when they saw his appearance. He told his story, and while he was telling it, a terrible noise like thunder was heard outside. His brother ran out to the yard and seeing the stable door open, went in and to his great surprise, the fine grey horse was dead. Anywhere the Ryan family went at night the dog was after them, until finally he was banished by a young priest who their brother: This dog was supposed to be the "Devil" and ever since that time he has never been seen in the neighbourhood.
