    heard the beautiful singing of the bird in the rose tree. The monk, who had been looking at him very earnestly for some time, told him that there was a tradition in the monastery of a Brother of his name, who had left it one hundred years ago, but what had become of him no one knew.
    While he was speaking the holy man said._ "My hour of death is come, blessed be the name of the Lord for all His mercies."
    Brother get me a priest for my soul is departing. He knelt down, made his confession, was given absolution, anointed and before midnight he died.
    The old people say the little bird was an angel, and that the Almighty God in His mercy was pleased to grant this holy man the happiness of listening to Heavenly music even before his death.
